A life-long Northwesterner, Johanna Lindsay fell in love with beads as a child and has been working professionally as a jewelry designer since 2004. Johanna believes in the power of adornment to help us navigate and control how the world perceives us.
She uses larger beads, creating sculptural forms and self-supporting structures rather than pixel-driven designs typical of seed bead weaving. Each piece is woven with a needle and sturdy, specialized thread and is composed from glass and a variety of other materials.
Her current work is designed to reinforce one’s sense of self, of being a presence that matters. Like vertebrae stacked tall, or wings stretched wide, movement, structure, and functionality are key elements.
She enjoys playing with color, bringing in elements inspired by nature, architecture, and the world around her, including seasonal flora. She misses seeing art lovers in-person and the magic seeing their faces light up when they spot the perfect piece. She loves inquiries via email or messenger for consultation about finding just the right item(s)!
